Black Egg??

A little Description:

This is actually a preserved duck egg.
a little trick by our neighbor up north, China.
Also known as Century Egg.

stored in mixture of clay, ash, salt, lime, and rice straw.

after the outer coating is remove.. well mostly.

the egg with half of its shell removed. the snowflake patterns is clearly shown
FYI, in normal egg the pattern is not very clear cause it blends with the colour.

shell totally removed.

so.. the taste?? emm.. unique haha.

and for those people who thinks they never tried duck egg before.. think again cause salted egg is commonly made using duck egg. Century egg is just a variation of the many chinese cuisines using duck egg.
